Wellings Named Distinguished West Virginian

Award-smWest Virginia Wesleyan alumna and Board of Trustee member Linda Wellings was recently presented the Distinguished West Virginian Award by West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin III and First Lady Gayle Manchin at a dinner in Charleston. The Distinguished West Virginian award was created to honor West Virginians who have contributed significantly to the state or state residents who have brought positive attention to West Virginia.

Wellings has served as president of MPL Corporation since 1986. Her exceptional abilities to organize, integrate, and maximize the development and personal growth of human resources has made her an industry leader. She has long been a proponent of the development of high technology companies within the State of West Virginia.

She was the first woman to serve as chair of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce and has also served as the chair of the West Virginia Commission for National and Community Service. Wellings has been a member of the West Virginia High Technology Consortium for several years and served on the Affiliate Leadership Council. She also served for many years on an advisory board for the Small Business Development Center.

The Buckhannon resident is also active in the First United Methodist Church, where she currently serves as the prayer coordinator. She recently joined the Board of Directors of Mission West Virginia and is a member of the Board of Directors at the local branch of Freedom Bank.
