Description


MPL Corporation is a provider of Systems and Software Assurance Services to the NASA IV&V Program located in Fairmont, West Virginia. At the NASA IV&V Facility, we support NASA's IV&V Program, delivering analysis and verification & validation of safety-critical and mission-critical software for a number of important NASA programs, including both human and robotic exploration as well as earth and space science collection platforms.


 


The successful candidate will use his or her strong embedded software background, software quality and safety expertise, and NASA domain experience to evaluate target programs to ensure safety and mission success as a member of the IV&V Safety and Mission Assurance Support Office (SSO) Team. SSO supports a number of software safety activities, including software safety analysis, process definition and improvement, and review and development of software & safety standards.  Support is provided across the Agency, including numerous NASA missions and the Commercial Crew Provider (CCP) Program. 


Required Qualifications



  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other software-related engineering programs

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance

  • Experience across the software development life cycle (requirements, design, implementation, and test) and the entry and exit criteria associated with Program/Project milestone reviews

  • Familiarity with software architectures and systems & software engineering practices

  • Excellent verbal and written English language skills, good communication skills

  • Ability and desire to interact in group meeting/working environments with team members, development organizations and customers

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)


Desired Qualifications



  • Experience performing software quality, reliability, safety, V&V, and testing activities related to embedded software systems

  • Experience developing and/or evaluating Hazard Analysis, FTA products, and FMEA/FMECAs

  • Experience with development of complex, safety-critical software systems

  • Experience with NASA, Government approved Industry, or DoD software assurance requirements, standards, manuals and handbooks, and assessing compliance with these products

  • Familiarity with NASA flight programs involving Human –related spacecraft / launch vehicle systems and domains such as rocket engine propulsion control; flight dynamics; vehicle system management; fault protection / fault management; launch, flight, and abort operations / processes; software safety; and mission assurance

  • Familiarity with NASA-STD 8739.8 and NASA-STD 8719.13 and the classification of safety critical software requirements and analysis of related design concepts

  • Familiarity with Mil-STD-882C

  • Familiarly with Range Data Display Systems, Radar Systems, Launch Range Systems or Range Safety Systems

  • Experience reviewing and/or developing Software Assurance Plans, Software Requirements Specifications, and Software Test Plans

  • Experience witnessing software testing and demonstrations, and performing SQA audits

  • Experience or knowledge of SEI Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) implementations

  • Experience with complex electronics (e.g. ASICs, FPGAs) and programmable logic devices

  • Familiarity with Agile software development processes

  • Familiarity in working within JIRA/Confluence environments
