MPL Corporation is a provider of Systems and Software Assurance Services to the NASA IV&V Program located in Fairmont, West Virginia. At the NASA IV&V Facility, we support NASA's IV&V Program, delivering analysis and verification & validation of safety-critical and mission-critical software for a number of important NASA programs, including both human and robotic exploration as well as earth and space science collection platforms.


MPL Corporation is seeking early-career Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is in support of the NASA Systems and Software Assurance Services (SAS) Program, working directly with the IVVO Technical Quality and Excellence (TQ&E) Team and the SAS Quality Assurance and Metrics Team. This position will be located in Fairmont, WV. The successful candidate will take on increasing responsibilities in TQ&E and QA/Metrics, develop and implement process improvement initiatives across all aspects of the program, and put processes in place to increase the quality of contract execution. At times, direct support of IV&V projects and/or tasks relating to Safety and Mission Assurance support may be required.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Industrial and Management Systems Engineer,  Computer Science, Systems, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or other software-related engineering program with a minimum 2 years’ experience or 4 years of directly related experience in lieu of degree

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance

  • Ability to work in a software intensive environment

  • Proven ability to develop high quality products on time, particularly the ability to present data intensive material as information

  • Ability to use advanced features of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) to simplify/automate work processes

  • Ability to excel in a modern, automated office environment using server/client-based applications

  • Initiative; ability to work with minimal direction; ability to identify needs and work self-directed when the situation requires; makes things happen rather than respond only to direction of others; Takes ownership of tasks and problems and provides solutions

  • Proven ability with time management; develops high quality products on time, every time

  • Proven ability to analyze business, technical and customer data, particularly the abilities to: present data intensive material as intuitive information, detect patterns in complex data, and determine/obtain the data needed to answer the questions at hand

  • Critical thinking and problem solving

  • Ability to work in a diverse environment with multiple stakeholders, excellent at coordination and following up to conclusion

  • Be able to support development of presentations, reports, research, and other contract deliverables

  • Desire to learn NASA programs involving spacecraft/launch vehicle flight software systems and domains such as guidance, navigation, and control (GN&C); rocket engine propulsion control; flight dynamics; vehicle system management; fault protection/fault management; launch, flight, and abort operations/processes; software safety; and mission assurance

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and associated products

  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems such as ISO, CMMI, or Lean/Six Sigma

  • Familiarity with  basic quality tools and statistical processes such as CAR/PARs, Control Charts, Pareto Charts, Flowcharts, data analytics, trend analysis and forecasting

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) or Python

  • Experience using MS Project or similar tools to develop and maintain project schedules

  • Experience modeling or developing complex system level process flow diagrams

  • Experience soliciting system or application requirements from stakeholders

  • Experience testing software applications including developing use cases, performing acceptance testing and performing user testing

  • Familiarity with project management principles

  • Ability to use advanced features of Microsoft Access to automate work processes

  • Experience using Microsoft SharePoint in a collaborative environment; ability to create SharePoint content, including lists, forms and workflows

  • Experience or familiarity using collaboration/tracking software such as JIRA and Confluence

  • Experience developing work instructions and training documents
